Valve Steam Deck USB-C Charging Port Repair
Full replacement of the USB-C charging port on your Steam Deck, using a higher-quality jack than Valve’s original.
Why this repair needs to happen quickly
The solder pads under the Steam Deck’s USB-C port are extremely delicate. Once the port itself is physically cracked, loose, or broken, continued use — plugging in a charger, wiggling a loose connector, or dropping the unit — can tear those pads off the board entirely. A straightforward port swap can turn into a much more involved (and expensive) trace repair if the damage is allowed to spread. If your port is visibly cracked or loose, stop using it and bring it in as soon as you can.
- This is a genuinely difficult repair — the solder pads sit hidden from view behind the port
- We’ve built and programmed custom tools for safe port removal without warping or burning the board
- We don’t use hot air stations for this repair — uneven heat risks ripping pads during removal, especially on a board that’s already stressed from a damaged port
- We install a higher-quality port than Valve’s original for better long-term reliability
- Free courtesy service: while your Deck is open, we clean the cooling system and apply Arctic MX-6 (or better) thermal paste to the CPU
Other damage this may include
After hundreds of these repairs, we’ve found a damaged USB-C port sometimes rips the solder pads off the PCB — leaving us nothing to attach to –
The first step is always removing the port to investigate the damage and remove any of the broken pins.
If we find more severe power-related damage, we’ll contact you after diagnostics with details and any additional cost before proceeding. Liquid-damaged units are repairable too, but may carry additional cost.
What to include
Just your Steam Deck — no power cord or docking station needed, unless those also need repair or testing.
Please double-check your own USB-C cable and dock for cracks or bent pins — include them only if you’re unsure of their condition.
Turnaround time
Typically 3–5 business days, though this can run longer depending on workload, part availability, and the extent of damage found.
